In 2023 the gardens are open every day from Saturday 1st April with the last day of the season being Sunday 1st October. Opening times are 10.30am - 5pm with the last entry at 4pm.
In 2023 the castle is open for guided tours only every Sunday, Monday or Tuesday from Saturday 1st April with the last day of the season being Sunday 1st October. The castle is occasionally closed on certain days for a private function. Please check the website for the latest information.
In 2023 the cafe is only accessible through paid entry to the gardens.
No, for most days you do not need to book online. However, some event days are best to book in advance if there is a limited number of visitors (i.e. summer jousting, fireworks or Christmas fair for example).
We don’t allow dogs anywhere on the estate with the exception of assistance and support dogs. This includes our car park area and wider estate. Please do not leave your dogs unattended in cars.
Yes, group bookings (20+) must be made in advance and are available on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Yes you can. We ask you to keep your picnics to the picnic benches and lawns away from the cafe.
85% of the gardens are accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. The river walk and sunken garden are not accessible.
We don’t allow any drone footage to be taken of the estate or drones to be operated while on the estate.
